Uhhhh… Okay.

I have no idea if this is real or not, but the whole concept of it is just mind boggling. I mean here in Canuckia, we’re well versed in the denominations of our currency and while the “Toonie” is a common sight as change in our pockets, it wasn’t all that long ago that we had the orange coloured $2 bills lining our wallets. I just can’t see anyone going as batshit as these guys did over 57 $2 bills.

What a crazy ass world we live in.

Ask Mr. Wizard.

Today’s uselessly fun science fact.

If you were to liquidate all the mineral wealth currently residing in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter and then divide the money equally between all the people on the planet each person would receive approximately 100 Billion (US)Dollars.

Sin City

Wow!. That’s all I can say. I have been truly blown away by this adaptation of one of my favourite comics by one of my favourite authors. The visual style of the movie is like watching a comic book in my head. It wasn’t flashy. It was dirty, gritty and true to the stories from start to finish. It wasn’t a movie where the written word says one thing and the director says “let’s do this instead”.

I was especially blown away at the fact that so many of the actors starring in it had no speaking parts whatsoever and yet they still managed to portray their characters and give us a sense that they were real people without being just cardboard cutouts. I’m going to have to see it again just to catch all the nuances that I know I missed the first time around.

I give it two thumbs way up as one of the best comic adaptations around. Score 1 big one for gritty film noir!

…And There Was Much Rejoicing

You know you’ve missed a show when you get chills when you hear the signature sound effect associated with it. That’s how I felt tonight when I heard the TARDIS dematerialize for the first time in 16 years. WOOOO. Hell, I felt chills from the opening sounds of the title sequence. All in all, I give the new series and the new Doctor two thumbs up, despite the fact that the twit has quit and isn’t doing a second season. Dammit! You can’t waste regenerations like this!

In any case, It’s definitely something I plan on watching for the near future.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled boring lives.

*dances out of the scene to the tune of the Doctor Who title sequence*

Doctor Who!!!!

Dammit… I want to watch the new series. The trailers and clips I’ve seen have all been brilliant. Damn you BBC! I want my Doctor Who Fix!!!
