Bah…

Here I am lamenting the fact that there’s nothing stellar coming out movie-wise and I totally blanked on the good stuff that I was looking forward to.

Hitch Hiker’s Guide To The Galaxy is coming! Bah. I’m such a dolt. Let’s hope it sucketh not.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is coming, though I’m a little trepidacious about it based on the current trailer but I’m still planning to see it just cause Johnny Depp is cool. Gawd I’m such a fanboy.

I’m intrigued by The New World as it looks interesting.

Sin City has me very piqued as I honestly thought I was reading the comics over again after I watched the trailer. The film noir style presented is perfect for the film and I can’t wait.

Sadly, I’m going to watch Hollywood destroy another great comic book character with Constantine. It’s going to be like watching a train wreck… you just can’t look away, no matter how horrific it gets. I’d much rather see a blond, British version of the titular anti-hero rather than Mr. Keanu “Whooah!” Reeves but we can’t have everything now can we. Least Neil is working on Death so at least that is safe from the Hollywood culture vultures.

So I guess there is more to look forward to than I thought. Serves me right for opening my big mouth and spewing forth my blather.

Movies

Okay… so here I am sitting around kinda bored with the current movie scene. There’s nothing overly special currently out that thrills me on any particular level and nothing that I can think of that’s coming out that makes me salivate too much (ok so Michelle Trachtenberg in a short figure skating outfit makes me feel like a dirty old man but that doesn’t count). So here I sit, occasionally glancing at the various trailer sites out there looking for something to pique my interest. I see Chronicles of Narnia will be out next Christmas and that’s something to look forward to, but between now and then things seem to be pretty bleak. Or so I thought.

Then, I happenned to stumble across this little gem called Kingdom of Heaven.

For those of you who know me, (and I doubt anyone who doesn’t know me is reading this) you’re all probably aware of my interest regarding all things medieval, especially knights and the Crusades and more specifically the Knights Templar and the mysteries surrounding them. I love the concepts. The time period, gritty, barbaric and unfair as it was. I love the historical significance (and insignificance) of it all. I love the myth and the mystery. That’s why I’m going to see this movie. I care not if it sucks monkey genitalia. I care not that it has Mr “Still the Prettiest” in the starring role (okay… I do care but it’s got Liam Neeson looking badass swinging a sword so that makes up for Mr. Nanyboy Bloom a thousandfold). Nuff said.
