A Saturday Night @ Elrond’s Place

Why hello again intarwebs. I see we’re still on speaking terms. How the hell are you?

Okay… Obviously I haven’t posted in awhile. Haven’t really had much to say. The baby is still gestating (we’re somewhere near the 18 week mark now) and all is right in the world.

So rather than bore you all with the mundanity of my life I have decided to waste your time with this amusing little gem of a gif that I found online.

Enjoy.

Incarnations of Immortality

I’ve always wanted to be immortal. To live a long and varied life and witness history unfold has immeasurable appeal to me. While the “Highlander” style of immortal where there can be only one does have it’s boyish charm, I’d much rather just live. Unfortunately things are not so. We only get a short span of years in the grand scheme of things.

Sometimes though, that can be enough to create your own little bit of immortality.

Something Resembling A Post

Once again here I am sitting in my darkened living room trying to wind down from a long day at work. I’m not really tired but I expect I’ll be up early so I should probably be in bed…

Obviously I’m not listening to myself and so here I sit listening to Zero by Yeah Yeah Yeahs and trying to wind down. Never said I was the brightest bulb in the room now did I?

I know it’s been somewhere in the range of 30 million years since my last substantial post and for that I apologize. Life… has been interesting, to say the least. Mostly I’ve just been busy with living my life and not actually being online 24/7 like I used to be.  Strange thing that.

I guess I should take the time now to expand and elaborate on some of the things that I summed up in my last post.

Now as you may recall, Tamara and I we...

Oh Noes!

I’m back! Shock of all shocks, but I finally managed to figure out what was going on with my website and managed to have it fixed. It was a stupid backend problem with a wordpress plugin that was causing havoc and chaos all around.

Wow. I have a lot to catch up on.

Let me ‘splain.
[pause]
No, there is too much. Let me sum up.

Went to Rome. Had fun. Came back. Worked like a dog over Christmas pulling in multiple 88hr weeks. Got transferred to a different store. Got a “new” car.  Read Books. Lived Life. The end.

At some point now that the site is working again and that I’m back on a semblance of regular hours I will make some attempt at posting regularly once more. No guarantees as to when that will be.

Cheers for now. I’m off to watch Quantum of Solace.

When In Rome?

So in less than two weeks, Tamara and I will be in Rome, butchering the language, savouring the local cuisine and getting suitably and enjoyably lost in the twisting little streets all the while rubbernecking like the giddy tourists we are. Now we’ve got our own itinerary planned and our own ideas of what we want to see but I thought I’d take this time to see if anyone else had any suggestions of places to see (or places to avoid).

Looking forward to your ideas.

The Spore-t of Kings

Man… my post titles are getting lamer and lamer. I really had to dig for that one. I’m going to blame having to be up at 4am to take my girlfriend’s mom to the airport. Guh. It’s far too early and I have had far too few Monsters to be walking and talking, let alone blogging but hey, we all can’t be morning people now can we.

I will say that getting up at 4 did make me somewhat nostalgic for the late nights that I haven’t had in quite some time. Perhaps it was also the time of year. There was that crisp sharpness to the air that autumn always brings and that I love so much and the peace and quiet was exquisitely enjoyable...

Home

“You’ll have to excuse me, I’m not at my best
I’ve been gone for a month, I’ve been drunk since I left
These so-called vacations will soon be my death.
I’m so sick from the drink I need home for a rest”

— Home For A Rest by Spirit of the West.

So, we’ve finally got the place livable. 90% of the boxes are unpacked and most of the stuff is in the right place. Soon we’ll have the curtains all hung and the acutrements all in place and the place will be fit for company and entertaining. I have a tonne of photos to post but am waiting until we’re 110% finished before I post them. In the meantime, I get to enjoy the sweltering heat and hope that it will break soon and it won’t be an oven in our kitchen.

Perhaps now that the craziness is done I’ll have a chance to post more… but then again perhaps...

Greetings From The Planet of Sound

Well, today’s the big day. I’m off to get the keys to the new place and drop off the paint so as Tam can let her creative muse run wild while I’m at work and then tomorrow I get to join in and paint to my little hearts content. Hoooray!

Once the paint dries, then the fun stuff begins and all our time will be spent shuffling boxes from points a, b and c to point d. Then it will be the ever so fun task of going through all our collective accoutrements and deciding what all we have, what all we’re going to keep, who gets to throw out what, and who gets to share their toys. It’ll be grand fun.

I’ll take some pics of the new place when I get there today so as we have some before and after pics.

In the meantime and in between time...

A Mid-Week Serenade

Due to the help of my ever-faithful henchman Igor and through the super science of blog necromancy I bring to you, from the very edge of death, my somewhat regular postings about music and such.

Yes, it has been awhile. I have to say that I have a decent excuse this time. I managed to land myself in a very healthy and happy relationship with a girl who puts up with all my eccentricities and foibles with good grace. She also managed to watch me type that with a straight face so I guess that’s saying something.

As you can imagine, it’s eaten up a lot of my time. Not only do have I a new girlfriend but I also lucked out and landed myself a promotion at work and am now the Store Manager...

Girlfriend is Better

While I tend to keep my private life private and rarely comment about it here on the blog, some things are just too good not to say something about.

Much to my continued shock and amazement, I have a girlfriend. I’m quite thrilled with this. I wasn’t looking for her and she sort of just fell into my life like a vibrant, chaotic whirlwind of energy and beauty and I’ve been hooked since the moment I met her. To paraphrase Monty Python, “I chose her out of thousands. I didn’t like the others. They were all too flat.” *grin*

Her name is Tamara and she is perfect for me. She is strong where I am weak and together we’re a happy whole...
