I’ve been very lax in my painting of miniatures recently. Earlier in the year I was all fired up about assembling and painting my Norse team for Bloodbowl. I even had the Ulfwerener designed and ready. I had a consistent palette in my head and I was ready to go. For some reason though, I never got started. Life interfered as it is wont to do around here and the project, like all my other painting projects, fell by the wayside. I know I’ll get to it sooner or later, right now thought my attention is focused on world building so I doubt it’ll be sooner.
Even though I’m not painting that much anymore, I still find the time to occasionally peruse various sites looking for cool paint jobs and techniques and most of all for cool miniatures to paint. Today I found a link to some in the most unlikely of places: George R.R. Martin’s website.
Apparently ol’ Georgie has entered into a licensing deal with Dark Sword Miniatures to produce a line of 28mm figs based on the Song of Ice and Fire Series of books. This to me is way cool. I was reading George’s blog and he was saying that the first of the series are complete and include: Jon Snow, Jaime Lannister, Cersei Lannister, Melisandre of Asshai, Ser Loras Tyrell, and Sandor Clegane along with four unnamed brothers of the Night Watch.
Feel free to follow the link and take a peek. They’re fairly impressive. While you’re there, feel free to check out the other miniature lines that Dark Sword have going that are just as impressive like the ones based on the artwork of Elmore, Parkinson, Caldwell and Easley.
Alright. I feel like enough of a shill already for posting this so I’m going to leave you with a link to a couple of pics of a very decently painted version of Mellisandre. Enjoy
Now by painting, you just mean miniatures right???
Yeah. I have no talent for the classical type of painting. At best my abilities would be described as Amateur Stick Figure Theatre.
To be fair though, he does do a very nice job with his miniature painting.
Danke Jon. You get a pony for that compliment.
I want a pony! Blasted all!
To paraphrase the soup nazi from Seinfeld:
NO PONY FOR YOU!
*CRYS* but I like the pony…
While I HIGHLY recommend you read the whole comic starting from page 1, The last couple of panels in from this page are just for you Amanda
